HHD Software's Serial Monitor

Monitoring serial communications made easy ...

If you'll ever need to know what goes on between the serial port of your computer and that evil piece of hardware you have to communicate with, Serial Monitor will tell you.

I've used it with the Philips' Digital Congress Network system (as described in the article "Advanced .NET Reflection") where Serial Monitor allowed me to decipher the structure of several undocumented data packets traveling between the DCN Central Control Unit and the DCN control PC.

I've used the "Request View" visualization option, which displays all serial device activity in one window using different colors and font styles to differentiate the sent and received data, along with exact timings.

In order to document my findings, I've simply copied the logged communication from the Request View, pasted it (fully formatted) to Word and added my annotations.
