ps4 slim hard drive upgrade

  1. 5 Inches the standard laptop size internal HD will be 2.5 inches but desktops can also use this dimension
  2. 5Millimeter Size 9.5mm Notebook size internal HD
  3. 500 GB Size Ability to hold data
  4. 5400 RPM how quickly the HD works
  5. SATA II how quickly data can be moved

With all that said you must be sure that you look for 2.5 inches and 9.5millimeter when you are seeking a new PS4 hard drive, anything larger and you will be returning it. There are a few PS4 hard drive Upgrade recommendations that can allow you to locate a HD.

  1. Size – 1TB 1000GB+ – There is really no use getting anything in between 500 GB and one TB. A 500 GB version will get you exactly the same storage and 750 GB will only get you the following 5 games worth of storage
  2. RPM – 5400 is Standard forĀ ps4 slim hard drive upgrade but you really need to find a 7200RPM HD. 10000RPM and 15000RPM drives are not available over 1TB and I would not spend $350 on a 10000RPM drive that is only 600MB. Also note that on notebooks the higher the RPM the more power it will consume, since your console is plugged in You Would not have to worry about battery life
  3. SATA – SATA II can transfer data at a maximum of 3.0 GB/s while SATA III can move up to 6.0 GB/s. You need a SATA III drive if you are upgrading. SATA III is backward compatible to SATA II. Note it is confirmed that the PS4 utilizes SATA II so while your drive will be SATA III it will use the SATA II rates

What about SSD Solid Slate Drive. SSD is still fairly new and quite expensive to buy. The dimensions capacity of SSD drives that are offered are fractional compared to non SSD. Unfortunately not, external HDs Would not Work for the PS4 how you want it to. Games will not be permitted to be played from an external PS4 hard drive. The 1TB 5400RPM drive and the 7200RPM drive are the exact same cost as the 1TB 7200RPM drives.
